There was a meeting. At that meeting a gentleman started talking about his emotions. He said, “I talk for my mental health.”
- I talk to get better.
- I talk to vent my feelings.
- I talk to understand myself.
- I talk to let others know I am in pain.
- I talk to explore and understand my pain.
- I talk to be known.
- I talk to hear my own thoughts.
- I talk through prayer.
- I talk to ask God and others for help.
- I talk through my grief.
- Talking helps me manage hurt, sad, ugly feelings.
He continued. There is an alternative to talking. It is to live confused and with overwhelming regret. Here is my regret dialogue.
- Poor me!
- Poor me!
- Poor me!
Pour me a few drinks so I can numb my hurt and pain.
Prayer
Father, thank you for helping me understanding talking is exploring. Thank you that I can talk and express my wants and needs. Thank you for being you and thank you for my supportive friends. Bless me in my struggles. Help me Father, Son, and Holy Counselor. Amen.
