Integrating your emotional system and your spiritual system is difficult. Emotions seem to have a life of their own. After listening to thousands of people tell their stories I have arrived at one simple conclusion:
“Everyone is an emotional mess.”
We all know people with low self-esteem, who fear failure, get angry, some are depressed, others are anxious, are stressed out by life, that struggle with control, and some try recovery.
There are individuals who worship on Sunday and watch edgy Internet material on Monday. They get worn out and breakdown. Some people give and give and give until they don’t wanna give anymore.
Others are immature, selfish and greedy.
A few try so hard to be good they’ve turned into perfectionists.
How can you not conclude everyone is an emotional mess!
Then there is the Christian. Who God calls his people. He says His followers are:
- saints.
- forgiven.
- redeemed.
- chosen.
- cleansed.
- made new
- called friends of God.
- in Christ.
- covered by the blood of the lamb.
- set apart.
- not condemned.
- part of a fellowship.
- the bride of Christ.
- held in the palm of His hand
- and have their names in His book of life.
So What Then?
Please be kind to those around you, because they are a big emotional mess. And, at the same time they are sacrificially and supernaturally loved.
Prayer
Father, thank you for your never-ending love. Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice. Holy Spirit thank you for being my counselor, teacher, and guide. Amen.
