Here are some troubling thoughts men have:
- Chaos lives in my head. So, I try to never go there.
- I run away from my own ugly thoughts. That’s the best I can do.
- Why would i want to go into my own mind. It’s a junk yard!
- It’s my own mind that scares me.
- My mind is where my worst fears live.
- And, my childhood fears still hold great power.
It’s hard to look deep within yourself. One man wept and begged. “Please don’t make me look at my past.” Just the thought of re-examining his 40 year old story was terrifying. Many of our troubling thoughts are rooted in our past.
Here’s one idea.
The next time you have an old troubling thought. Start repeating the name of Jesus. Keep repeating it. Don’t stop until your brain settles down and gets back in line.
Do you have any other ideas for dealing with troubling thoughts?

“You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” – My wife and I have been unpacking 30yrs of being together, 27years of marriage, raising 4 kids, my abusive behavior, my neglect, my disconnection from most things. It’s horrible to do. The temptation to shame spiral is a daily constant. But when we get the truth out, and grieve it, it actually sets us free. Because no matter how bad something was, the blood of Christ has covered it and washed me clean. I may feel dirty, but I actually am clean. Even this truth is hard to remember. But the truth(both what is reality and Jesus himself being The Truth) set us free.
Read, Memorize, & Meditate on Philippians 4:8 DAILY.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Romans 12:1, 2
Then God can & will transform our minds.
