Husband #1
I’m a very private person. I don’t trust people. I don’t share. I’ve never had a best friend and I don’t need one. People aren’t safe. I don’t want to need anyone…or be needed by anyone. But I do want to be married.
Husband #2
I don’t enjoy talking. I get lost in conversations. I feel vulnerable. I hate saying the wrong thing and failing. I struggle with my feelings. Some say I’m more closed than open. But I do want to be married.
Husband #3
I hate when someone says, “Say something.” Relationships scare me. Opening up scares me. Words scare me. I fear connection. Alone feels safe. Relationships are hard. Still… marriage feels better than being alone.
Young Wife-
I’m so excited to share life with you. I love openness and vulnerability. Emotions are yummy. I want a deep, meaningful connection. And I can’t wait to have that with you.
Then God—
(whom you both gave your lives to)
said, “The two (of you) shall become one.”
Close
Marriage doesn’t remove your fears. It doesn’t eliminate your walls. It exposes them. And then…asks you to tear them down.
Prayer
Father… help us. Amen.
Scripture
“Love is patient, love is kind…”
— 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV)
