“I hate knowing I am flawed.” Doesn’t that thought rattle you? And I mean, shake you deep in your soul. Being flawed is a haunting thought.
I am flawed.
I know I am flawed.
And I can’t do anything about it.
How do I know I’m flawed? Hundreds of people over a lifetime have pointed it out.
- “You’re a screw up.
- Loser!
- What’s wrong with you?
- When are you gonna learn?
- You just don’t get it.”
I hate being flawed. I hate knowing I’m flawed. I hate making mistakes. I hate that my mistakes are seen by others. I hate being told, “You failed.” And, I hate being ridiculed.
How you deal with being flawed is a major life challenge. Here are three common responses:
- You can face it and find freedom.
- You can try to hide it and live in secret torment. Or,
- You can numb it with an addiction.
Addicts run, hide, pretend, escape, fantasize, and use substances rather than face this thought. I am flawed. Remember an addict can’t be alone very well. Because that’s where the fear of being flawed screams the loudest.
Clonclusion
We are people, humans, and flawed.
In our pain place, fear cries out.
“I hate knowing I am flawed.”
But in a momentary pause in the pain a whisper can be heard. I am with you. It’s Abba, Jesus, and the Holy Comforter; saying we are here, standing with you and for you.
Prayer
Father, thank you for your presence. Thank you for your never ending forgiveness and love. Thank you for knowing I am flawed and still wanting me. Help me be kind to myself and rest in that truth today. Amen.
Bible Connection
For God so loved (flawed me) that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish (battling flawedness) but will have eternal life.

I am proud to be broken because it keeps me grounded in knowing I need Christ.
