What are two things you needed growing up?
A safe place and supportive parents.
What do you still need as an adult?
Even with greater resources, we still long for emotionally safe relationships — a safe spouse, safe friendships, and a safe community.
So here is today’s question:
Are you a safe person?
Because safe people create safe places.
Safe people:
• Listen
• Support
• Encourage
• Stay present
• Engage
• Respect
• Live curious
Unsafe people:
• Shame
• Blame
• Complain
• Criticize
• Judge
• Practice negativity
Safe people create:
Calm, peace, rest, and laughter.
Unsafe people create:
Stress, fear, and doubt.
Reflection
What kind of man do you want to be?
Do you want to be a safe place?
Close:
What would it take for you to become a safe place?
• Admit that you don’t have all the answers
• Let others know you are a student of Jesus and life
• Be present and engaged
• Find joy and celebrate something every day
Prayer:
Father, help me be like Jesus. He was the perfect example of a safe man.
Amen
Scripture:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Colossians 3:12 (NIV)

Thank you Doctor Marriage.
I do want to be a safe man. I struggle to create a safe environment at home and even within myself. I grew up in a very unsafe place. Honestly, I’m struggling with this right now.
Keep growing!
Amen and Amen 🙏
I was reminded of 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 earlier today in a conversation with my cousin.
And this post is like an expansion of that verse.
Thank you for sharing, Stephen and Tim.
