What Self-Limiting Beliefs Do You Carry?
Everyone runs a belief system. For this discussion, we are focusing on negative, self-limiting beliefs. These beliefs are often formed early in life—and if left unexamined, they will cause deep inner distress.
Some beliefs create emotional chaos. Others turn into restless torment. The real problem isn’t that they exist—it’s that most people try to keep them buried.
You cannot step into joyful, healthy adult living while dragging around a 100-pound negative, self-limiting belief.
Here is an example of a self-limiting inner dialogue:
- I have done bad things.
- I am bad.
- I don’t deserve forgiveness.
- I am unworthy.
- I deserve punishment.
- I don’t deserve happiness.
Closing Thought
For healing to begin, these beliefs must be:
verbalized, owned, grieved, released… and finally replaced with truth.
Prayer
Father, help me see how my childhood wounds formed negative beliefs within me. Be Lord over the tormenting thoughts that have followed me. Please lead me into truth and freedom. Amen.
Scripture
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32 (NIV)
