A spiritual brother had been working on growth, change, and submission. He’d been faithful for months and months. Yesterday he confessed. “I slipped.” Him and I then grieved together.
Later, I wrote him this note (as the Spirit led).
Nothing has changed.
You are still chosen, forgiven, and redeemed.
Don’t shame yourself.
No name calling.
Make a simple confession.
“Father, I’m sorry. I got weak.
I love you and I am yours.”
Immediately Jesus whispers, from the right hand of God.
“I’ve got you covered. You’re mine and we’re a team. The debt is paid.”
Then the Holy Spirit chimes in, “I have been advocating on your behalf. Heaven has been rejoicing over your growth and progress.”
Papa God joins in. “As a son of the Kingdom, grace is extended. Stand. Take your place once again.”
Next the Heavenly Chorus of the Redeemed stands and shouts.
“Get up! Keep running!
We’ve all slipped. We showed up with skinned knees, bruises and brokenness. It was the name of Jesus that got us admission not our perfect performance.
Clean up from your tumble.
Running shoes back on.
It’s a new day.
Another race is scheduled.
Run the good race, fight the good fight.”
Thank you, Jesus, Holy Spirit and Papa God. Amen.
