Author John Acuff was speaking on a podcast. He made this comment:
“You should be wildly curious about yourself.”
That comment caused joy to rise in me. It is the other half of what is normally spoken. Let me put the two thoughts together.
You should be wildly curious about God. And, you should be wildly curious about yourself.
Why be wildly curious about God?
The apostle Luke says every secret of the kingdom will be unveiled. To believers, it will be out in the open—made known by the light of revelation. Watch! Because on this journey, God’s things will be revealed to you.
Why be wildly curious about yourself?
Luke continues: So pay careful attention to your heart as you listen to Jesus’ teachings.
Did you hear it? Be curious. He is saying pay attention to what’s going on inside you and compare that to Jesus’ teaching.
Finally, be wildly curious about your spouse, children, aging parents, and others. They are learning lessons. God is at work in them, around them, or on them.
Close-
Be wildly curious about God, yourself, and others. We are all one creation on one mission, serving one God.
Prayer-
Father, teach me to be wildly curious about You—and humble enough to be curious about myself and others. Amen.
Scripture-
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
