This is going to be an odd post. Because it’s about dogs and brains. I was watching a program about Cesar Millan, the dog Whisperer.
The program featured two types of dogs. They were the angry dog and the overstimulated dog.
Some of the dogs he works with are protecting, biting, and attacking. He says, their brains are stuck in one mode, protect. If the dog’s brain is stuck, the dog cannot fully enjoy his life.
The other type dog wrestles, jumps, and chews-up things. Their brains are stuck in the too-much-play mode. They love stimulation and operate overstimulated. It’s also not good to be stuck in that mode.
Cesar works to shift the dog’s brain into a new position. He calls it, “calm surrender.”
When I heard those words, my body wanted to get down on all fours and rollover. Don’t you just love the way that sounds?
Calm: A mind that is free from conflict, agitation, and disturbances.
Surrender: Yielding your power to someone who knows and serves your best interest.
Then, I realized it was my spirit that immediately recognized the power of those words. Because, my spirit was remembering the teachings of Jesus. And His promises of peace, rest, and joy.
Prayer
Father, thank you for giving us sensitive spirits. Thank you that we can see you everywhere. Thank you for the teachings of Jesus. And his promises of peace, rest, and joy.
Mediate on these words
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. -Matthew 11:28
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. -John 14:27
These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. -John 15:11
