What Does It Mean to Be Known?
Being known happens on two levels.
Level One: Surface Knowing
People know what you like. They know you like pizza, golf, computers, comedy, fast cars, and Coca-Cola.”
Level Two: Deeper Knowing
Level Two includes your fears, doubts, disappointments, emotional wounds, negative self-talk, escaping behaviors, unhealthy habits, and the ways you protect yourself from pain.
This blog is about Level Two.
Learning to Know Yourself. If no one helped you explore your inner world growing up, you may not realize there is an emotional system operating inside you. Every person has one.
Your emotional life is like a puzzle. As you understand the pieces, the bigger picture begins to make more sense.
How Do You Begin?
Start paying closer attention. Press in. Listen to the way you talk to yourself.
Notice healthy behaviors you consistently avoid.
Look for recurring patterns of weakness.
Tell yourself. I am just one long story. Everything inside me makes sense. Each part helps form the bigger picture.
Weakness are also clues to the puzzle.
To Do list
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. He knows you completely and will gently lead you. Next ask a trusted friend to join you on your Growth Mission.
