A wife shares with her husband.
Do you want to know me?
Love me?
And, grow with me?
Or, do you just want to change me?
And, fix me?
I don’t always understand myself.
My mind,
My behaviors,
And, even my odd ways.
If I don’t understand myself,
How can I explain me to you?
I try.
You respond with three behaviors.
Tell me how to fix it,
Get angry,
Or, avoid.
I am stuck in my own ways.
And, you are stuck in yours.
We are two very different people.
We were raised very different.
And, we think very different.
I feel sorry for you.
And, I feel sorry for me.
I also do three things over and over.
Fight.
Flight.
Or, freeze.
Please stop fighting against me.
And, I will stop fighting against you.
We are both in a battle.
But, it is not the same battle.
I am not your enemy.
And, you are not my enemy.
Can today be a new day?
Can we just start with peace, rest, and acceptance?
Can we still be friends?
And, can we still stand on our commitment to love each other?
Then, we can take a step forward from there.
Prayer
Father, I did not sign up for a relationship with such a gap. I’m not equipped for this type of relationship work. What was I thinking? I need your help in two areas. They are awareness and acceptance. Please help me with emotional growth. May I walk with you daily. And, you show me how to love better? Amen.
Meditate on this verse today
I urge you to walk in a manor worthy of the calling you received: with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
