A Goodbye Letter to Ed, Danny, and Ernest. We met in high school and then interacted periodically over a lifetime. The three of you had similar, wonderful qualities. So, I will address you as one.
Thank you for being the leader you became. It was natural and easy to follow you. Thank you for having a kind and generous heart.
I experienced wonderful love and caring from your words and actions. Thank you for always being warm and receptive. I loved the way you would enthusiastically greet me.
Thank you for being fully alive and present. When we spoke, I knew I had your full attention. You made me feel truly valued. Thank you for loving and pursuing a relationship with God.
That love showed in your generosity, kindness and sacrifice. This may sound funny but thanks for having my back. You were the kind of man who would never stab me in the back. Thanks for being a man of character.
You commanded respect. And it was respect you had earned. It was also the respect others enjoyed giving.
You were an achiever of small and large goals. The world was a better place with you in it. You are missed. I want to especially thank you for the kindness you showed me. For that I say thank you. Please know your life blessed mine.
I’ll see you in that glorious reunion on the other side. Goodbye my friend.
