Why do thoughts of failure cause panic?
Here are some ideas on failure.
Failure can be a small mistake that only you know about, or it can be a traumatic public event with devastating consequences. What if you have failed a thousand times before you turned 18? (Small failures and large ones.) And, as a young person, it was almost never a good experience to fail. There was yelling, name calling and experiencing the disgust of others.
What if failure is part of a larger, painful three step process?
Here are the three steps:
- First, you fail.
- Then, you get rejected.
- And finally, you get abandoned. (left out)
Let’s expand on these thoughts.
FAILURE happens. You get criticized, mocked and shamed.
REJECTION happens. Some kids determine you are defective, diseased, odd or different. And that’s what they start spreading around.
ABANDONMENT happens. Because you are labeled a loser. Next, you are excluded from gatherings, events, teams, and popular social circles.
That’s why we have fear of failure!
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or in dread of them, for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you. He will not desert you or abandon you.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NASB)
I will never leave you or forsake you.
Prayer:
Father, help me be soooo filled with love that the lesser issues all gets squeezed out. Amen
