You are a mess.
And, I am a mess.
But, let’s just love each other anyway.
I have quirks.
And, you have quirks.
But, let’s just love each other anyway.
I am smart in some areas.
And, less smart in other areas.
You are smart in some areas.
And, less smart in other areas.
But, let’s just love each other anyway.
I can be strong-willed, bullheaded, and defiant.
Mostly, that’s not good.
You can be unique, different, and rigid.
And, sometimes that’s not good.
But, let’s just love each other anyway.
I am a man. Men act like men.
And, lots of times that’s good.
You are a woman. And, you act like a woman.
And, most of the time, that’s good
Still, we are very different.
But, let’s just love each other through our differences
I will never be you.
You will never be me.
But, let’s just love each other anyway.
I will never be perfect. I am trying to do better. But, changing is hard.
You will never be perfect. And, you also resist change.
Can we see past our imperfections and just enjoy each other anyway?
If I’m honest, there’s a slow part of me.
That part hates to change.
And, the same could be said of you.
I am human. I was made for love, by love and to love. And, I pick you to be the one I love.
I know it’s a challenge.
But, can we just love each other like crazy?
Prayer
Father, sometimes I get stuck in the small details. And, I lose site of the big mission. I am really good at exaggerating, repeating and dramatizing our relationship differences. But when it comes to practicing grace, mercy, and compassion, I struggle. Thank you that you love me like crazy. Can you please teach me that skill? I enjoy it. And, my wife needs me to practice that skill. Amen.
