In your youth, you experienced fear, doubt, confusion, and failure. There was no guide or mentor. So, you used young thinking, childhood emotional insights, and storytelling. You told yourself a story. It included a belief that you are bad.
When the story was completed you repeated it until it became a foundation to stand on. If you haven’t changed that story, you stand on a fearful, unworthy foundational belief. And, that is the story that lives deep inside.
Some of your thinking and actions are proof it still exists. When someone gets upset, you feel like a failure, get triggered, or overreact. Their unhappiness sets off your unworthiness.
Since, you became a Christian, Jesus has patiently been waiting for you to invite him into the painful unworthy-belief-story (your unworthy-of-love boy program) that lives deep in your soul. Jesus finds the door to that room still locked. So, Father, Son and Holy Spirit have set up camp outside your locked boy-story room. Remember, they only go places where they are invited. And, even today you are afraid to go in there yourself.
Prayer
Father, I didn’t know what else to do. Growing up was confusing and chaotic. I put a plan together to try to make myself worthy of love. But, I’ve never felt so loved that my fears left. I keep trying and failing. My childhood plan to earn love has failed. I open the door to my inner-story room to you. Please write a better love story on my heart. I am yours. Amen.
Bible Connection
Meditate throughout the day on this verse:
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
