Why is intimacy so difficult to achieve? (Intimacy is getting to know someone on a deep emotional level.) What needs to happen for intimacy to occur?

Each spouse must:

• Help create a safe place
• Have a desire to be known
• Be willing to share thoughts, thrills, hurts, and griefs
• Be humble
• Bring a boat-load of forgiveness
• Have a willingness to get your feelings hurt
• And, always be ready to kiss and make up

Two additional thoughts:

The more self-awareness you have, the easier this will be. And, it is helpful if you have some past experience with closeness.

Closing

Intimacy and oneness are spiritual terms. God loves oneness. It was his idea for two to become one. Daily work towards oneness with God, self, and spouse. Amen.
