A letter,
To my wonderful wife,
I’d heard of God’s love. Preachers have spoken about it, and in Sunday school they’ve promoted the idea that God loves me. My ears have heard it, my mind can repeat the words, but my Soul has never understood. Instead, my Soul carries one painful emotional program. That program repeats my unworthiness. The pain of rejection has long reigned in my Soul.
Dear wife, you’ve shown me God’s love. It was through your patience, kindness, forgiveness, your long-suffering, sacrificial waiting, and hopeful dreaming. Through watching you be faithfully committed to loving me, I now get it.
You know my weaknesses and flaws. You could judge and condemn me. I know I’ve caused you pain, and yet you chose to forgive and love me!
I finally get it. Your love has shown me the meaning of and depth of God’s love for me. For that, I deeply say, Thank you!
Prayer
Father, please bless my wife. Thank you for her love. She is truly your daughter. Amen.
