If, you want great connecting to be part of your love story, you must UNLEARN some skills.
If you want a deep, close friendship, you must UNLEARN some skills.
If, you want to get to the promised land of oneness, you must UNLEARN some skills.
Here is a list of disconnecting skills a spouse must UNLEARN.
I must UNLEARN:
- Talking and answering fast
- Interrupting
- Not letting your spouse finish
- Making my point more important than yours
- And, not grieving enough
I must UNLEARN:
- Finishing his/her thoughts
- Taking over the conversation
- Always having to be right answer.
- Expressing that my pain is bigger than yours
- Acting like I’m overwhelmed
I must UNLEARN:
- The belief that I can’t keep talking if my feelings get hurt.
- Thinking all conversations should be easy.
- Discounting my spouse’s thoughts and feelings
- Getting defensive.
- And, hiding behind silence.
Summary
Forming a great connection involves a good deal of UNLEARNING some old, bad habits.

Pick one habit you will work to UNLEARN (or un-practice). Start there and keep growing.
