Recently a brother made an insightful statement. He said, “Looking, lusting and fantasy thinking is off the list.”
He continued, “Over the years, those behaviors have been happening less and less. And they have been dropping lower and lower on the to do list. I’m a Christian and I know it’s wrong, but I could never completely quit. Secret fantasy thinking has been my security blanket. It was my comfort station in times of need.”
“What need you ask?”
“It was there when I felt worthless, got rejected or felt overwhelmed. It provided relief and escape. In my mind I’m a legend. In reality I am Joe Average.”
“Something has recently shifted. Now that behavior is off the list. It is no longer my little side, secret activity. I’m done.”
“What caused the change?” I asked. He responded.
“Three things: In the past, I wanted 98% of this habit gone. Today it is 100%. Every small encounter with Christ has been building and growing me. And, I’ve been meditating on this thought. I am “in Christ.” That one truth is transforming me.
Prayer
Father, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for making me new. I want all of your program inside all of me. And, thank you that all of me is inside Christ. I love you. Amen.
