Things I wish dad had told me.
- Growing up is hard and filled with confusion.
- Being a man is challenging.
- Managing your sexuality is only easy before puberty and after age 70.
- You will sin. God forgives. And, He never tires of welcoming you back home.
- Marriage will seem impossible at times. But, it often gets better as you age.
- I was stupid as a young man.
- I’m less stupid as an older man.
- You will have to grow and make changes. Don’t fight changing.
- Wives say very helpful things at times. Other times, their hormones make them very moody. Love them through it.
- Serve God. Bring glory to his name.
- Make it your goal to be a good man.
- You will figure out what you’re doing, and what you’re supposed to be doing when you get old.
- Take calculated risks. That’s how you get ahead. Stretch yourself.
- Some friends stay friends for life. Others are just fair weather friends.Some friends will stab you in the back.
- If you have a choice between being loving, vulnerable and sometimes getting hurt. Or, staying closed, confused and detached . Pick the first one.
- Read your bible and stay close to Christ.
- Forgive easily and quickly. Remember, we are all forgiven sinners.
- Just keep walking forward and loving.
