This one thought has become increasingly clear to me. To be more successful in life, you just need to add the other skill. You successfully picked up the first skill in childhood. Now the question becomes will you pick up the second skill?
The second skill is often the opposite skill. It’s a very simple thought. It naturally occurs over time to some people, but others never learn this principle.
Here are some examples:
- I used to be shy. Now, I’m more assertive.
- I used to waste money. Now, I’m a saver.
- I didn’t used to have a voice. Now, I’ve found my voice.
- I used to be a loner. Now, I’m a connector.
I was talking to an older gentleman and he reminded me of his need for the second skill. “I was never wanted as a child. So I fought against everyone. I fought to be heard. I fought to be strong. I fought to survive. I’ve fought all my life. Now that I’m old, I’m learning a new skill. It’s the skill of Letting Go.”
Wow! Now his system can operate much better. He can fight the important battles. And let go of the trivial ones. Now that his system is whole, he can move into finding more peace, rest, and joy.
Let’s all be working on finding, learning, and growing new skills.
Prayer
Father, thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your ways. Thank you for making me. And, thank you that you are spending a lifetime growing me. I am yours. Please keep growing me into the likeness of Jesus. Help me keep adding skills for my growth and your glory.
Bible Connection
Meeting Christ always has the impact of moving you forward and adding what’s been missing in your life. Here is one example. Read John Chapter 4. A scorned, small town, outcast woman becomes the town ambassador for Christ.
