Steady as she goes.
Hold your course.
The waters will be rough today.
Winds are strong.
Obstacles are many.
Here are the forces aligned against you:
Temptation whispers,
“Just a little.”
Secrecy assures you,
“No one will ever know.”
Impatience shouts,
“This is taking way too long.”
Feeling under-appreciated murmurs,
“I deserve better.”
Giving up sighs,
“This is too much trouble.”
Pride whispers,
“You’ve worked so hard….”
Desire pleads,
“I want it—really bad.”
Comparison argues,
“Everyone else is doing it.”
Isolation insists,
“I’m the only one being left out.”
Justification lies,
“This is a real need. I can’t live without it.”
Delay comforts,
“I’ll be good later. I can start fresh tomorrow.”
Close:
Trouble wants you to stumble.
Guilt says you always fail.
Evil wants to be your master
Heaven whispers.
Steady as she goes. Hold your course.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are for me.
When the challenges come today, give me strength. In my moments of weakness, give me wisdom. Guard my heart, steady my steps. All glory to your name. Amen.
Scripture:
He (Jesus) got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
