Amy Morin, psychologist, wrote seven questions to ask children. These are questions meant to go deeper than the usual, “How was your day?”
The questions below are a thoughtful adaptation of her original ideas. They are designed for a husband to ask his wife, with the purpose of creating meaningful dialogue and emotional connection.
Questions to Encourage Connection-
What was good about your day?
What was hard about your day?
Did you learn anything from a mistake or challenge you faced today?
What made you feel happy, encouraged, or nurtured today?
In what way did you grow or improve today?
Who did you help or bless today?
What was something you noticed or stood out today?
What is something you’re thinking about doing that would stretch and grow you?
Did you see God at work today?
Closing Thought:
Dialogue strengthens connection.
Questions communicate care.
Curiosity builds intimacy.
Keep growing your relationship.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for this relationship. Help me continue to grow as an individual and as a spouse. Teach me to listen well, to ask meaningful questions, and to stay emotionally present. Help me use dialogue to deepen our connection and help our love mature. Amen.
Scripture:
“Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out.”
Proverbs 20:5 (NLT)
