A husband asks,
Dear God, I have a question. Why did you give me this wife?
God replies, Do you remember when you asked Me to help you become more like Jesus? This is how I’m answering that prayer. I’m helping you grow in some important Jesus skills:
- Service.
- Patience.
- Sacrifice.
- Forgiveness.
- Grace.
- Mercy.
You’re doing well. I’ve been watching you.
- You’re throwing fewer fits.
- You’re working through disappointments.
- You’re learning to manage your anger.
- And growing in emotional regulation.
And I enjoy watching the progress.
- You’re discovering you can live just fine even when all your needs aren’t met.
- You’re realizing that some of your thinking has been flawed.
- You’re breaking old habits.
You’re learning you’re not sixteen anymore—which means you can stop using pouting, moodiness, and manipulation to get your way. Honestly, it’s been fun walking along side you as you finish growing up.

And one more thing. This daughter of Mine needed a good, strong man to love her. You got the assignment. Thanks for asking Me to help you become more like Jesus. I’m glad to help.
Prayer:
Father, help me become more like Jesus. Give me strength, wisdom, and insight so I can love this perfectly imperfect daughter of Yours. Amen.
Scripture:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” -Eph. 5:25 NIV
P.S. Your wife asked me the same question about you.
