What if someone could experience your inner thought life? What would they learn about you? What negative self-beliefs would they hear?
What is your old, struggling, inner monologue? What are some beliefs that are so old they go back to childhood? What beliefs hinder you from having a greater ability to find rest?
Beliefs about myself:
- I’m not that good
- I’m unworthy
- I can’t be good, I keep failing
- I feel like a phony
- I feel like a scared boy
- I must be a loser
- I’m not good enough
Beliefs about you
- If you knew me, you wouldn’t like me.
- If you knew my stories, you’d be very disappointed.
- You don’t know the real me, and I can’t tell you my struggles, doubts, and fears.
- You won’t like me because I don’t like me.
Other thoughts I have
- I feel like a fake.
- I must make you think I’m good, but really I’m not that good.
- A lot of times I just fake it.
- I feel scared inside.
- There’s a lot of noise in my head that stresses me out.
- No one knows me.
- No one cares about me.
- No one really loves me.
- I like to act like I’m in control but actually I’m scared a lot.
- I hate being ridiculed.
Homework
Pick one thought. Bring it into the throne room of God. Ask the Heavenly Father how he wants you to handle this thought. Do it repeatedly until you get an answer.
Prayer
Father, please give me wisdom. I want to keep growing in love of you and your greater truths. Holy Spirit, counselor, and teacher, please help me with this growth. Help me bring my thoughts and beliefs into alignment with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
