I can’t love you very well if you don’t know yourself. I can love what I see. I can love your actions. And I can love what you say. But if you don’t engage me with deeper dialogue, I can’t know the inner you.
If you don’t know your wants and needs, you can’t express them. If you don’t have words to convey hurts, wounds, and rejections you can’t talk about them.
If you refuse to tell difficult stories from your past, that part of you will remain a mystery. And if you don’t engage dialogue about deeper struggles, I can’t know those issues. And I can’t love and support you in those areas.
Conclusion
I will love you with all the Jesus inside me. But I will be limited in my ability to love you if you don’t know yourself.
Prayer
Father, help me explore the depths of my soul. I make you Lord of all of myself, especially my struggles, doubts, and fears. I offer these places to you, Abba, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Bible Connection

My wife and I are opening up about our past failures and current struggles. It’s amazing how much deeper we connect now.
