Skill Building Series
Everyone carries old—deep pain. It’s from a lifetime of failing and being rejected. Some of us are scared of the old pain. Mostly, we try to just ignore it. But it won’t stay ignored, avoided, or denied. It’s real and it’s there living deep in your soul.
A friend once said, “I don’t want to visit my own pain. And I sure don’t want to visit yours.” So we do our best to ignore the pain. But it continues, and eventually becomes the fuel source for anger, depression, and sadness.
You stay stuck. That is, until someone is willing to wade in and help you learn more about your failure pain.
Skill 8
This includes mine or anyone else’s. Instead, I will:
- Pray for wisdom.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to guide me.
- Receive the comfort of Jesus.
- Listen to hear what the fear is trying to teach me.
Prayer
Father, thank you for failure pain. Thank you for what pain has to teach me. Help me stay longer and listen deeper. And thank you for being so much bigger than pain. I do not bow my head to fear but I do bow to you. Amen.
Bible
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. – 1 John 4:18 (LSB)
