How Do You Know If You Like Yourself?
Liking yourself is an important part of mental and emotional health.
Hating yourself is a sure path to ongoing, inner torment.
Here are some questions for you to consider.
Do you often feel the need to escape?
Do you run an inner narrative filled with turmoil and unrest?
Do you use drugs, alcohol or porn to numb and avoid?
When you are alone, do you make constructive choices?
Do you see yourself as a bad, defective and worthless?
Are you kind to yourself?
Do you engage in frequent, negative self-talk?
Do you call yourself names?
Do you enjoy your own company?
Do you set healthy sexual boundaries—and honor them when no one is around?
Closing:
Answering these questions honestly can help you answer the deeper question:
Do I like myself?
Prayer:
Father, You are love. Help me live in Your love.
Help me not distort or spoil Your perfect love with self-hatred. Amen.
Scripture:
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
1 John 4:16 (ESV)
