Our pastor said on Sunday that we should pray for people who cut us off in traffic. Well… I got cut off this morning. Normally, I would have used some angry, not-so-nice words. But today, I remembered: 

“Pray for those bad drivers.” So I did.

Dear God,

This guy who just cut me off is a terrible, reckless, inconsiderate driver. Honestly… where did he buy his drivers license?

Thank You that Jesus came to save his soul.

Also, Lord, he is exactly the kind of person who makes the roads unsafe—he’s selfish, a poor planner, and clearly a last-minute thinker. I’m guessing he got his license online.

Thank You that Jesus came to save this sinner.

And, Lord, this man is part of what’s wrong with society—self-centered, impatient, and completely unaware of others. No. He was probably trained in a third-world driving school.

Thank You, Jesus, that You came for him.

(I seldom cut off other drivers…except on very rare, urgent occasions.)

I’ve got to say… this praying idea really works. I feel so much better. I’m so grateful Jesus came to save that sorry driver’s soul.I may need to tell my pastor—this prayer thing is very helpful.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for covering me with the sacrificial love of Jesus. I confess my own flaws and ask for Your forgiveness. Change my heart, not just my words. Teach me to see others the way You see them. Amen.

Turns out… God used that driver to expose the real problem in my car. Different driver… same need for grace.
