“The worst loneliness is not being comfortable with yourself.”
Anonymous
- I’m not good alone.
- In the alone place I have troubling Thoughts about myself.
- There I get so restless.
- I want to be anywhere else.
- My awkward, bad self shows up in the alone place. I start experiencing old, ugly feelings.
- Struggling, failing and torment live in the alone place. And overwhelming sadness lives next door.
- In my alone place, I feel like a loser.
- It’s the place where I harshly judge myself.
- I’m not my normal self in the alone place.
- When I stay alone too long my good coping skills start breaking down.
- In the alone place a part of me screams, “Do something. Don’t just sit here and experience the quiet. Do something!”
- Nothing good happens in my alone place.
- I hate being alone.
- It’s just me.
- Quiet.
- And this very awkward discomfort.
Prayer
Father, today I make you Lord of my alone place. Jesus and Holy Spirit you are also welcome in my aloneness. Help me find you first and fast when I am alone. And please do your mighty work in me and on my alone fears. Amen.
