Having completed a Men’s Retreat, here is my summary and recommendations from the group’s feedback:
- If you fall down, get back up. Stay in the fight.
- Remember, “it’s about progress not perfection.”
- Never forget, the shock and sadness on your wife’s/girlfriend’s face. Enter that sadness. Use that sad memory to help anchor yourself.
- No more stupid. No more lying. No more conning yourself. No more confusion.
- You run one body, one story, and one painful start.
- I am starting to wrap myself in the love of Jesus in the morning and wrap myself again as I go to bed each night. And, I am learning to demonstrate small acts of love.
- I am being still and listening longer. I am crying out in prayer. And, I am walking in grace.
- I am pressing in and letting Jesus heal my story.
- I have opened up more and shared what I experienced at the retreat.
- Each day life is a new beginning. Today, I am looking for new things.
- My eyes are open. No more sleeping through life. My ears are open. I am hearing better and deeper.
- No more shame or self condemnation. Instead, I am asking Jesus to restore my soul
Amen!
(Although this is from a past retreat, it is all applicable today.)
