Everyone has strengths. It’s important to celebrate your strengths. And if what you say is true, you’re not bragging. Being honest about your strengths is healthy. So here goes.
“I’m really good at failing.”
I’ve had lots of experiences, and as I’ve gotten older, the list keeps growing.
Why is it important to rethink failure? Because failure stunts and paralyzes many of us. Failure is so scary that we develop a second fear.
It is the fear of failure. That second fear further limits us. Why?
Failure can be stressful. But the feedback from others can be destructive.
“You are so stupid! What is wrong with you? When are you ever going to learn? I can’t believe you did that. Duh!”
From this day forward, anyone who speaks to me like that invalidates themselves. For that moment, they are not part of my support team, and I do not receive their words.
Failure is often a very useful part of growth and learning. My new strategy is this:
“I want to fail well.”
Closing-
I want to live well.
I want to die well.
And in between, I want to fail well.
Prayer
Father, You knew I would fail. Thank You for Your grace, mercy, and Jesus. Thank You for never shaming me. Amen.
