Let’s Give Thanks Today
Can we pause and truly value and appreciate America? It is not heaven. It is not perfect. But it is our home.
When others want to tear it down, let us be people who lift it up.
Finding a cause and being angry is easy. Failure and imperfection are all around us. Destruction is simple. Complaining, yelling, and protesting can make you look passionate.
It is much harder to build something lasting and beautiful.
Building requires sacrifice.
It requires discipline, courage, and patience.
It requires generations of faithful individuals who are willing to give more than they receive.
In my younger years, I did not slow down long enough to appreciate what I had.
Today, I see things differently.
Today, I stand in awe of the sacrifices made to build this nation. I think of the men and women who gave their lives defending our freedoms. I think of the police officers, firefighters, first responders, and members of our military who willingly run toward danger so others can sleep in peace.
My heart is full today.
Full of gratitude and appreciation.
Today, I want to look at the world around me with fresh eyes. I want my heart to overflow with thankfulness. I want there to be a smile on my face and a song in my heart.
I have visited other countries. They are beautiful, and I have stood in awe of many of the places I have seen. But America is my home.
It is the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Close-
Today, I thank God for America.
I thank God for my home. I thank God for my wife, my family, and my life. And I thank God for you.
Happy Fourth of July!
Prayer
Father, please bless and heal our land. Please move the hearts of our youth toward gratitude. Amen.
Scripture
