There are three types of men. Let’s talk about them.
The Defective Guy
Inwardly, he feels broken and flawed. There is no peace or deep rest. He may succeed or fail, but the outcome doesn’t change the inner message.
There’s a constant inner whisper: “Something is wrong. You are defective.”
Driving Fear: I’m not good enough.
The Super Guy
He looks like he has it all together. Strength, confidence, success—it’s what he projects.
From the outside, he appears solid… even admirable. Some would call him “the golden boy.”
But, there’s a quiet, inner pressure. A need to perform. A need to prove.
Driving Fear: I’m not good enough.
The Regular Guy
He knows the pull of both sides—the shame of feeling defective and the pressure of trying to be “super.”
He repeats: I’m not a defect. I’m not a super. I’m just a regular guy.
God is always good. Like Abba, I often do good. And sometimes… I don’t.
Driving Belief: When good things happen, I thank Abba. When I fail, I receive His love—and I stay kind to myself.
Closing Thought
We are both regular guys and sons of Abba.
Prayer
Father, free me from the lie that I have to prove my worth or punish myself for my failures. Help me receive Your love fully, and help me extend that same grace to myself. Amen.
Scripture
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”
1 John 3:1 (NIV)
