Three Essential Emotional Skills:
- Practice Sadness
- Forgive Me
- Divided No More
Skill #2 — Have I Forgiven Me?
Abba forgives me. But… have I forgiven me?
To rest in Abba’s presence, forgiveness is required. To rest within myself, self-forgiveness is required. Do you want a restful soul? Receive forgiveness from Abba.
Forgive those who have hurt you. And… you must forgive yourself.
The Focus: Self-Forgiveness
Abba has forgiven me. But… have I forgiven me?
As I look back over the years—childhood, teenage years, high school, college, single life, marriage, raising children… and beyond. There have been many moments of poor judgment. Many mistakes.
There was selfishness, misplaced passion, the need to belong, carelessness, being self-absorbed, survival, and me-first thinking. And not just what I’ve done, but what I’ve experienced:
- Wounded.
- Rejected.
- Made inferior.
- Being used.
- Stabbed in the back.
- Taken for granted.
- Lied to.
- Being ignored.
Through all of this…Have I forgiven me? Have I forgiven any part I played?
Pause:
What memories are rising right now?
Have I confessed and received Abba’s forgiveness?
Then next— Have I forgiven me?
Close:
I have been totally forgiven. Jesus paid for it all. So, I will no longer carry unforgiveness—even toward myself. Today, I forgive me. Today, I choose deep, abiding rest.
Prayer:
Father, I am tired of judging and tormenting myself. Thank You for Jesus and the gift of forgiveness. Today, I fully and completely forgive myself. Bringing my emotional system into alignment with Your spiritual truth. Amen.
Scripture:
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Rom. 8:1 NIV
