Senator Steve Daines from Montana was on a recent podcast when he said, “People only believe what they discover for themselves.” That line has stayed with me. I’ve been praying and wrestling with it for days, asking God for wisdom and insight. Here’s my conclusion: Life with God is about discovery.
Questions:
- What did you discover in childhood?
- What have you experienced in adulthood?
- What have struggles taught you?
- What did you learn from a long illness?
- From marriage?
- Moving?
- Losing a friend?
- Being fired?
- Aging?
- Failure?
- Rejection?
Think about these questions. All of life is meant for spiritual and emotional growth. And in every discovery, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are present.
Closing Thought
There is something to discover in every season and in every trial. God is always with you. Your job is to have childlike curiosity—always learning, always growing, always discovering.
Prayer
Father, thank you for life, curiosity, and discovery. Thank you that you are present in every moment – the good ones, and the bad ones. Today I say thank you for your presence. Amen.
Scripture
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
