Equipping Christian Men for Richer Relationships

Major Life Changes

Senior pastor Ray Johnston was interviewed by Carey Nieuwhof, “When does a pastor know it’s time to retire?” Here are four considerations:

  • When a pastor loses his passion for what he’s doing.
  • When a pastor loses his energy and he can’t get it back.
  • When a pastor loses his vision to lead and shepherd.
  • When a pastor finds other work or a different mission more exciting.

Why This Matters

This is a great set of questions. They have broad application and could be used by anyone considering a major job change.

Prayer

Father, please bless me with wisdom and insight as I go forward through major life changes. Thank you for growing and changing me. Help me follow. Amen.

Bible

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your way submit to him, and he will make your path straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
