Inadequacy seems to be a universal belief, feeling, and fear. How have you dealt with inadequacy? Here is one man’s pathway.
First, as a young person you developed an Identity of Inadequacy.
(How could you not? You experienced lots of failings, missteps, and humiliation.)
Second, you found the constant feeling of inadequacy very stressful.
(So, you discovered an escape and some temporary comfort. That worked well until it turned into an addiction. Examples include drinking, drugs, overeating, overspending, pleasing, controlling, etc.)
Third, you joined a support group and got clean. You got free of your addiction. And freedom is good. But the underlying Identity of Inadequacy still existed.
Fourth, you thought, maybe volunteering for a cause will fix me. So, you served at the local food bank and raised money for scholarships. Next you joined a political action team and fought for a cause. But nothing fixed the feeling of inadequacy.
Fifth, you hit the wall. And you reviewed your final three options.
Life Option A
Live the happiest life possible while quietly carrying an Identity of Inadequacy.
Life Option B
Let the feeling of inadequacy grow until it produces the fruit of bitterness, resentment, and depression.
Life Option C
Meet Jesus. Invite him to become your Rabbi. Walk in his footsteps (Teachings).
Allow him to transform your Identity of Inadequacy. He offers these alternate new identities:
- Pursued
- Chosen
- Redeemed
- Friend of God
- and many more
Why This Matters
Most individuals struggle with an Identity of Inadequacy. The question is, how will you deal with it?
Prayer
Jesus, please be my Rabbi. I give you my feelings and identity of inadequacy. Amen.
