An experienced podcaster was teaching about interviewing a guest. He taught about different types of questions he would ask. Here is a starter question. “What type of work do you do?” Here is a deeper question. “Why did you pick that profession?”
Better conversations are the result of deeper dialogue. We want our relationships to be full of deep dialogue and rich connecting moments. Here are some examples of how to go deeper when asking questions to your wife.
- Are you a happy person?
- Deeper: What fuels your happiness?
- Deeper: What hinders you from having a more joyful life?
- Which of your dreams have come true?
- Deeper: Which of your dreams have not been realized?
- What’s a goal of yours you’d like to work towards in the next year?
- Deeper: If we both agree on the goal, then how can I support you?
Prayer
Father, you, Jesus and the Holy Spirit operate as one. I want my wife and I to operate as one. And, I want our oneness to be inside your oneness. We cannot make it alone. We need you and your wisdom, love, and deeper questions. We want to be one as you are one. Help us never give up on oneness. Amen.
