A wife begs her husband, “I just want us to have MEANINGFUL conversations.”
There are “grocery list” conversations.
“Your mom called” conversations.
“What are we doing this weekend” conversations.
Can you “pick up the kids” conversations.
And, “can we have sex tonight” conversations.
Those are important. But, not what she is asking.
Meaningful conversations are us conversations. They move us forward. And, they close the emotional gap between us.
Meaningful conversations transform us from stuck to moving forward again. These conversations are difficult and sacred. Sacred because the journey of oneness includes carefully using the tool of MEANINGFUL conversations.
We are two different people. Yes, we have negotiated lots of differences. However, we still have some hot spot differences that need MEANINGFUL conversation.
Your wife is asking, “Can we keep talking, working, and growing even when it’s uncomfortable?”
Prayer
Jesus, help! We are so emotionally different. In moments of conflict my stress rises and it’s hard to even hear my wife. Help me be patient and kind. Help me grow in love. Help my heart heal and be just like yours. Amen.
