A husband decided to challenge himself. He told a friend, “Not listening has been a weakness of mine. So, listening will be my focus for the next 30 days.” Then, he continued and shared some more thoughts.

I want to be a better listener.
I’m so easily distracted.
I want to learn to listen well.

Growing up we did not listen to each other.
Everyone lived in their own world.
“Doing” was highly valued. Talking, listening and engaging was not.

I want to learn to listen deeper.
Hear better. Stay present longer.
I want to slow down and focus.

My wife wants me to know her.
Listening is one of the doorways to her soul.
And, listening to her will also help grow me.

Prayer

Father, I have failed at being a good listener. You are the God of hope and change. Thank you that I can express my failure and still receive your encouragement. Thank you for your love that never ends. And, thanks for listening to this prayer. Amen.
